Mrs. Downey's Fourth Grade Class

Mrs. Burn's Class
We all have state symbols. Here are some of the one we have in Illinois. Our state bird is the Cardinal. It was selected by school children in 1928. Another one is our state dance. The Square Dance was named as our state dance but school children did not vote to choose it. What kind of dance would your class vote for, if it could?

Mrs. Robert's Class
I love Monarch Butterflies! It is the state insect in Illinois. They are really pretty with colors of orange (like a pumpkin) and black (like the dark sky). They also have traces of white in their wings. The Monarch migrates each fall to Mexico. Arlington School has its own butterfly garden on the front lawn.
