Louisiana ... Pelican State Fact Contributors: Mrs. Bond's 5th grade, Ms. Haydel's Class, Mrs. Acosta's Sixth Grade » Capital: Baton Rouge Postcard Showcase: Mrs. Bond's 5th grade Ms. Haydel's Class In Louisiana, we have parishes instead of counties. We have many bayous and alligator-filled swamps. We eat lots of crawfish. Our land is flat and muddy. We have large, white birds called egrets everywhere. The capitol of our state is Baton Rouge, which is French for Red Stick. We get out of school for 3 days in February for Mardi Gras holiday so we can go to parades and catch plastic beads. --Mrs. Badon & Mrs. Thompson's Class |
