Mrs. Janus' First Grade Class, Leaphart Elementary School
Greetings...
We live about 7 miles from our state capital Columbia. We live near a man made lake called Lake Murray where we like to go boating, swimming, and fishing. The dam on the lake generates electricity for our city. We have a town festival every fall called "Okra Strut."
Our school mascot is the leprechaun. We have lots of excitement on St. Patrick's Day when we all build traps to try and catch the leprechauns. We feel fortunate to live in the middle of the state where we are only a couple of hours from the beautiful beaches on the coast and from the mountains in up-state.
