Activity:

1. Read Laura Numeroff's books Dogs Don't Wear Sneakers and Chimps Don't Wear Glasses to students.
   
   
2. Discuss the story and have students do a prewriting activity where they list animals they know and things animals can't do or don't wear.
   
   
3. Each child will design their own page by filling in the sentence:
   ____________ (animal name ) don't wear ______________ (type of
   clothing).
   
   They also can respond to the prompt:
   ______________ (animal name) don't ____________ (activity, eg. ski, go to school, read books)
