I am planning to have the students bring a snack with 100 things in it. Like M&M’s, Skittles, cereal, pretzels, etc. Then we mix it all together and have a 100 day snack.

We took 100 books to the gym to see how far 100 books would reach.
Another thing I love is making each child a crown. It says ” I survived 100 days of kindergarten” The kids love it.
We put together 100 piece puzzles.
I copy $100 dollar bills and we talk about how each would spend it. It makes a good story starter. And they think they are rich.

Last year I had the children bring in items such as: 6 (I had 17 students for a total of 102 of each item) cotton balls, toothpicks, buttons, grains of rice, beans, etc and we made groups of 100 of each item. We compared the size of each group. I had them make 20 groups of 5; 10 groups of 10, 2 groups of 50, etc. for each of the items and then we contrasted and compared our items.
I also had them make Fruit Loop necklaces with 100 loops and then they gave it to a friend.
We asked the parents to send in cookies (for a total of 100) and then shared them with another class.
We took 100 steps through the school.
This year we are collecting 100 cans for charity. The children are to bring in canned goods and we total them in groups of 10 each day. We count our steps to the office area (where the cans are displayed), each day we vary the length of our steps and estimate (after 10-20-30 etc.) if it will be more or less than 100 steps, and why.
I have a pocket chart with the countdown from 20. Each day we read the sentence “There are …. days left until the 100th day of school. Horray!” We discuss the words and letter sounds, then I take the sentence apart and the students are called one at a time to put it all back together again. I have them recall the order of the sentence (if they can or I help them) and then they put the sentence back together again. They love being able to do this and it really helps their beginning reading skills.
We will also be building structures with 100 legos (each!) and lots of other fun activities.
