Milk Cap Flowers
Craft that uses milk caps to make flowers.
Objectives:
Reinforce the concept of the circle shape (milk cap),
Learn about parts of a flower
Practice creativity and fine motor skills.
Materials:
milk caps in a variety of colors, if possible
colored pompons
glue
colored markers
small piece of cardboard per child
Plan:
During circle, discuss parts of a flower — petals, center, stem, leaves. (Use real or artificial flower to show parts.)
At art table, give each child a white cardboard square, approximately 5 x 7 inches.
The child then selects 3 milk caps of different colors and glues them onto the cardboard square.
She/he then glues a pompon in the center of each milk cap.
Finally, have the child use a colored marker to draw lines around the milk cap to represent petals, and from the milk cap to the bottom of the cardboard to represent the stem and leaves.
Comments:
If you’ve been saving milk caps, this is a great way to use them!
