Printables Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble printing or viewing the files, please review the following:

If you see this symbol in the place where the printable should be displayed, it means you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.

You need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view PDF files
Many printables are created in PDF format. In order to view them, you will need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. It is freely available for download at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

After you install the Acrobat program, you will need to restart your computer.

Already have Acrobat Reader? Upgrade to version 5 or newer.
If you have a version that needs to be upgraded, you may receive errors such as:

  • Could not find the ColorSpace named Cs6
  • There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document (20)
  • This file contains information not understood by the viewer. Suppress further errors?”
  • printing black boxes
  • inability to view pages with pictures or text

Downloading the latest version should solve your problem. Be sure to uninstall your old version(s) of Acrobat Reader. Also, once you have installed your new version, you need to restart your computer.

If the screen is blank when you try to download a printable...
The screen will be blank while the file is downloading. Most files will download within a minute or two depending on your connection speed.

If printing results in the heading & banner at the top of the page, you need to use the print icon on the Adobe toolbar instead of using the File > Print command on your browser.

Other printing problems

  • Sometimes it helps to choose the option "Print as Image" if the images on the page are not printing.
  • Check or uncheck the "Fit to page" option if you are unhappy with the size of the printout in relation to the page.

If you continue to have problems...
Contact me with detailed information, including error messages, browser type, operating system, and anything else you can think of. I may be able to figure out what's happening and help others that may have the same problem in the future. Email me here.
