Squirrel Templates or Patterns Printable Pages

These squirrel patterns are simple black outlines of a friendly squirrel with a big curled tail, holding its paws together in front. There are two PDFs: a big version with one squirrel filling the page, and a small version with four matching squirrels on a page. The insides are blank, so the squirrels are ready to color, cut out or decorate.

Ways to use it

  • Fall craft: Have children color the big squirrel or cover it with torn brown and orange paper, then cut it out for a fall bulletin board.
  • Counting: Cut out the small squirrels and use them with real or paper acorns. Roll a die and give each squirrel that many acorns.
  • Name labels: Write a child’s name on each small squirrel for cubbies, a helper chart or a fall word wall.
  • Cutting practice: The big squirrel’s smooth outline is a good fit for children who are still learning to cut along a line.
  • Stencils: Print on cardstock and cut out the shapes so children can trace squirrels for their own art or stories.
  • Writing prompt: Pair a squirrel with a sentence starter like “My squirrel is hiding acorns in…” for a fall writing page.
